Garment workers in Bangladesh continued their protests over higher wages for a second consecutive day, with the agitation turning violent in several places. Additional paramilitary forces have been deployed and around 670 factories have been shut.
Reports of vehicle vandalism and road blockades also emerged during the protests. The garment industry is the backbone of Bangladesh's economy, so the unrest could also affect exports.
